I grew up in Port Melbourne, now it is what you would call a Yuppee Place, but in those days it was a dock area and the population were Australians of Irish desent most of the guys worked on the docks and believe me it was a tough place to be, you mixed with all types.
Now life was pretty good in those time pre war years little money around so you made your own entertainment by swimming at the docks in the summer months, and playing football in winter, after leaving school I worked in shearing sheds all over our great Nation as a woolclasser, when I married my wife Bev in 1960 and started having children, I decided it was time for a career change and started working in a transport company that became a division of Maynes Transport and stayed there in sales and marketing management till I retired.
I have to say up untill then we had led a charmed life, yes life was great, then like a ton of bricks had fallen upon us our eldest daughter was brutally murdered by a scumbag in 1992 and our lives were turned upside down all through a scumbag that came into our lives totally univited, ours, family and friends lives were changed forever, for me it as like an out of body experince, your looking down on all this going on around you extremely hard to explain, I believe it is shock that helps you get through the things that have to be done funeral arrangments and such, after that you have the greiving process followed by Turmoil that is what “if i had done this or that, and flash backs of the last time you had seen your loved one, and you might want to withdraw from every one” and of course there is a lot more to it but we will move on.
Fast forward to the Justice System when you arrive here you expect to have your day in the court, they have the scumbag charged him with murder the jury find him guilty of murder, sentencing day come along in 1993. Judge George Hampel sentenced scumbag to 10 years minimum no use talking about the maximum because they only serve the minimum dont even know why they have it the max. Now from that day on the law ours the people laws had been hijacked by a cartel of the judicial system, what do judges do before becoming judges most have been defence barristers they have defended scumbags they know when they take on a case what happened yet they are prepared to defame the dead , discredit good witness, use hear say evidence that is not allowed by the victims side, then go on to being a judge “suprisingly some do make good judge’s but a lot unfourtantly turn out like George Hampel by the way now no longer a judge, there’s a God up there some where who listens” and then they go on to pass judgment on scumbags any wonder one their is a huge disparity in sentencing in cases that are identical. Well I got my diploma in law in the real world not out of a text book, and from time to time groups invite me out to debate with lawyers about different laws, so I am always happy to oblige.

My daughter is a victim of a violent crime. She suffered a brain injury and had brain surgery. She is doing well considering but still suffers from medical issues. Her attacker has never been arrested despite the fact she remembers who he is. The police refused to take her testimony because of her injuries. I am on a mission and will fight the rest of my life for victims like my child. I am very outspoken and not intimidated by anyone. I have a lot of things going on now in regards to this case and seeking justice. I want to join as many groups as possible so our voices can be heard. We all feel for you Noel and other victim’s families who have suffered by the pathetic sentencing. I certainly wonder if Justice HAMPEL perused your victim impact statement and took into account your grief as it has been for over 20 to 40 years all about the criminal. I will talk to you on Friday.
